Summary

The fifth book in the beloved, bestselling Harry Potter series, now illustrated in brilliant full color。

There is a door at the end of a silent corridor。 And it's haunting Harry Potter's dreams。 Why else would he be waking in the middle of the night, screaming in terror? It's not just the upcoming O。W。L。 exams; a new teacher with a personality like poisoned honey; a venomous, disgruntled house-elf; or even the growing threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named。 Now Harry Potter is faced with the unreliability of the very government of the magical world and the impotence of the authorities at Hogwarts。 Despite this (or perhaps because of it), he finds depth and strength in his friends, beyond what even he knew; boundless loyalty; and unbearable sacrifice。

This stunning illustrated edition brings together the talents of award-winning artists Jim Kay and Neil Packer in a visual feast, featuring iconic scenes and much loved characters -- Tonks, Luna Lovegood, and many more -- as the Order of the Phoenix keeps watch over Harry Potter’s fifth year at Hogwarts。 With its oversized format, high-quality paper, ribbon bookmark, and color on nearly every page, this edition is the perfect gift for Harry Potter fans and book lovers of all ages。

Of all the characters I've met in the zillions of books I've read in my lifetime Delores Umbridge is the worst。 I hate her with a living passion。 Jk Rowling is a master at character development。 Of all the characters I've met in the zillions of books I've read in my lifetime Delores Umbridge is the worst。 I hate her with a living passion。 Jk Rowling is a master at character development。 。。。more

This one was kinda slow。 It took 80% of the book before it got to the big climax。 I still liked it because the wizarding world is so fascinating。 And the hatred for that one character is enough to keep you glued to the pages。

The saddest, when harry knows the truth the day he went to ministry of magic。

I was afraid going into this book that it would be just as boring as I remember it being at ten, but I soon realized it was quite the opposite。 This book somehow manages to stay interesting throughout the entire 765 pages that it was (while Shadow and Bone and Six Of Crows were boring nonstop through their 300 or so pages)。 There was never a point in which I put the book down with the thought of ‘wow this is really boring。’ This book also shattered my entire heart。 As I am writing this now I am I was afraid going into this book that it would be just as boring as I remember it being at ten, but I soon realized it was quite the opposite。 This book somehow manages to stay interesting throughout the entire 765 pages that it was (while Shadow and Bone and Six Of Crows were boring nonstop through their 300 or so pages)。 There was never a point in which I put the book down with the thought of ‘wow this is really boring。’ This book also shattered my entire heart。 As I am writing this now I am crying from the amount of pain that Harry has gone through in his life。 But I hear a lot of People say that this book is filled with filler and that it is one of the most boring books in the series。 I disagree, I think that when I rank them the fifth book is definitely in my top three。This book worked more like a mystery than any other of the harry potter books I’ve done so far and that was a really interesting thing to read about。 Although I already know everything because I watch the movies and read the books before it was still so interesting too have Harry find out everything is well。This book also dealt with way more emotional issues than any of the other books。 It had a sense of maturity that none of the other books have had before and dealt with topics and emotions that have never been talked about it in the series before which was a really nice thing to see。Overall this book was one of the best in the series and I highly highly recommend not skipping this book when reading。 。。。more

This one was a bit angsty for my taste。 It made it more difficult for me to really invest in the characters although I do understand that a lot of that tone was intentional。

ok i love this book。 it gets dark & political。 the one thing that slightly bothered me was there wasn’t much DA meetings? i felt like we barely saw them。 i remember reading about the meetings a lot more, but i guess i remember incorrectly。 idk。 but everything else was excellent of course。 takes a more adult turn & i likeit。

The 5th installment into the world of Harry Potter has never missed an opportunity to make my blood boil。 I have never wanted to reach into a book more and slap the shit out of people more than Dolores Umbridge, Fudge and many more。 The story does a great job of making us feel hopeless, powerless, and unfairly retreated。 Though I have always thought some of the things that happen to our main characters are so ridiculous that I can't imagine why anyone would go along with/ allow it。I have never b The 5th installment into the world of Harry Potter has never missed an opportunity to make my blood boil。 I have never wanted to reach into a book more and slap the shit out of people more than Dolores Umbridge, Fudge and many more。 The story does a great job of making us feel hopeless, powerless, and unfairly retreated。 Though I have always thought some of the things that happen to our main characters are so ridiculous that I can't imagine why anyone would go along with/ allow it。I have never been one to dislike Harry's attitude and angst, I think it is very believable and logical that a boy of 15 would act like how he is after what has happened to him。I love the way his friends back him up and are there for him, acting with amazing grace as he vents and takes out his frustration。 It very easily could have been written to show Ron and Hermione with no agency, simply being steamed rolled by the main character。 But I feel like it was clear that they cared and empathized with Harry, purposely not retaliating。 Hermione (as usual) is the star, choosing when to listen and when to tell Harry to stop snapping at them。I have two kind of glaring issues with plot/character choices in this book。1st is the least egregious of the two。 The ministry (or at least Umbridge) thinking Harry knows where Black is。 We get this during the veritersium scene。 I know the ministry suspends logic a lot in this book, but why would HARRY be in cahoots with Black if he was still evil and trying to kill him? Wouldn't they pause to consider why? He couldn't be possibly that bad if the person that supposedly had his parents killed by this man frequently interacts with him and doesn't want him caught。2nd, (and ill admit I went off on a bit of a rant before seeing the full scope of this, but I'll explain in order of my thought process)。 Ron and Hermione becoming Prefects。 I've watched the movie many more times than rereading the books。 In the movie it gives us a great message of Voldemort wanting Harry to feel isolated and alone。 This message is such a great idea with Harry pushing away his friends, the Wizarding world turning against him。 THIS was the message I was thinking of upon reread。 So when Dumbledore did this, I thought "why are you doing Voldemorts job for him?" WHY take away Harry's two best friends。 Upon finishing the book I realized the Prefect plot didn't really go anywhere, wasnt even a big deal and didnt cause any further issues。 AND the Voldemort isolating Harry was only brought up in the movie。 (bravo movie)BUT besides that, why even choose Ron? He really isn't Prefect material AND he gets a moment later in the novel to get the spotlight when he wins the Quidditch cup for Gryffindor。 Ron doesn't follow the rules and he's not very studious, it doesn't make sense he'd be Prefect。 (And neither would Harry) Who would have been a perfect choice? Neville! For so many reasons。 One, perfect throw back to book one when he stood up to his friends。 Two, it would give him more fuel to be better at DA。 Three, it would set him up to be that secondary hero we know him to be at the end of book 7。 Huge missed opportunity。 (And again the movie did him better with Neville standing up to Bellatrixat the end。)Some other small things I thought were kinda dumb and I would DEFINITLY not have gone along with were: Harry getting detention because Umbridge says he's lying。 I don't know about you, but I don't think you can give detention to someone because you don't believe what they say。 I wouldn't have even gone, Id be like "You cant get me in trouble for that。"I don't even understand not allowing the Quidditch teams。 Who the heck are Slytherin going to play against if theyre the only team? I would have loved to see Umbridge not allow Gryffindor and then Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw decide to disband in protest making Umbridge have to reinstate Gryffindor。When the inquisitorial squad can start taking points, I would have just jinxed or straight up reductod the hourglasses to protest and show that points mean nothing now。I just wish that there was real protest and moments of standing up against the oppression。 The most they do is just cause messes throughout the castle essentially。Unfortunately I felt like I walked away with more negatives than positives in this book。 I will say one moment that had my heart though before I wrap this up。 The way Ron just unabashedly shames Percy after he gets his letter, his anger at the betrayel, his absolute lack of hesitation in supporting his friends and family。 And that's what turns Hermione。 Without needing to be said or elaborated on, her offer to start helping them with school work again I think just showed the moment of Hermione fully falling for Ron and its where I think it cements it for her that he is a pure and good person。I didn't dislike the book, but looking at it critically I found more negatives I could bring up than positives。 As a whole I still enjoyed my time, as I always do。 。。。more

Harry Potter delves into another riveting adventure in the fifth book of the series。 It’s been a pleasure watching Harry and his pals grow up, and see Rowlings’s literature mature over the series of books。 This is, by far, my favorite Harry Potter book in the series this far — it made me laugh, cry, love, hate, and everything in between。 I’m very much looking forward to the next HP adventure!

This was a very good read。 At times it did seem to be time consuming and a couple of chapters seemed to be dull and boring。 With that being said, it was a very great story and had a lot of great scenes and action parts to it as well。 Giving it 5 stars perhaps is too much but the series alone is 5 stars。 The Order of the Pheonix is definitely not my favorite book in the series but it still is a very great read。 I really cannot wait to read year 6 and 7。。。。 and then on to The Cursed Child。

honestly couldn’t explain to you why but this one just didn’t hit quite the same this reread。 it might be that i just want harry to be happy but this felt like a SLOG to get through at times。 some really good sections but them some also super long sections that just didn’t need to be so long。 the highlight of this book similarly to the highlight of harry’s 5th year at hogwarts is the DA meetings, super fun and lovely to see harry at his best。 also love the expansion we get on this one to include honestly couldn’t explain to you why but this one just didn’t hit quite the same this reread。 it might be that i just want harry to be happy but this felt like a SLOG to get through at times。 some really good sections but them some also super long sections that just didn’t need to be so long。 the highlight of this book similarly to the highlight of harry’s 5th year at hogwarts is the DA meetings, super fun and lovely to see harry at his best。 also love the expansion we get on this one to include the other weasley siblings, neville and luna more in the plot - ginny especially is so much fun。 other than that glad i can move on to the next book as this one almost felt like a filler 。。。more
